Summary
Infinico Metals Corp. reported highly encouraging assay results from its maiden drill campaign at the Nicobi Magmatic Nickel Sulphide Project in Québec. Hole NBI-24-001 intersected a significant 51.94 metres grading 1.37% nickel, including a bonanza-grade sub-interval of 2.36 metres at 7.36% nickel, substantially improving upon historical results. Furthermore, a 120-metre step-out in hole NBI-24-005 successfully extended mineralization down plunge, indicating the system remains open at depth and to the north-northeast.
Reasoning: The maiden drill program at Nicobi delivered exceptional results, particularly hole NBI-24-001 with a high-grade, wide intercept significantly surpassing historical results. The successful 120-metre step-out in NBI-24-005, despite being narrow, confirms the extension of mineralization and opens up new exploration potential, indicating a robust and expanding mineralized system.
Positive factors
- Headline intercept significantly exceeds prior best grade and width, indicating higher-grade mineralization than previously known.
- Significant step-out drilling successfully extended mineralization 120 metres, demonstrating potential for further discovery and open at depth.
- Maiden drill campaign yielded strong results, validating the project's potential.
- High-grade sub-intervals, including 7.36% Ni, indicate bonanza-grade zones within the broader intercept.
Negative factors
- Two of the five drilled holes returned no significant mineralization, indicating geological variability or targeting challenges.
Facts used in scoring: 44
Classification and evidence
Bonanza Interceptpositive
Exceptionally high-grade zone, well above the deposit-type norm.
Why it applies: The sub-interval of 2.36 m at 7.36% Ni in NBI-24-001 is an exceptionally high-grade zone, well above the deposit-type norm for nickel.
Evidence · table
“7.36”
Context: 2.36
Step-Out Extensionpositive
Mineralization extended beyond the previously known limit.
Why it applies: Hole NBI-24-005 represents a 120-metre step-out from previously known mineralization, extending the mineralized footprint down plunge and at depth.
Evidence · text
“The mineralized intersect in NBI-24-005 represents a 120.0 metre step out from any previously known mineralization”
QA/QC Disclosedpositive
Release includes QA/QC disclosure — certified lab, QP sign-off, or stated methods (blanks, standards, duplicates).
Why it applies: The release includes detailed QA/QC disclosure, mentioning ALS Laboratories, Certified Reference Materials, blanks, and internal duplicate samples.
Evidence · text
“Sampling, Quality Assurance and Quality Control Half-core samples were sent to ALS Laboratories in Val-d'Or (Québec), where they were prepared and then sent to ALS Laboratories in Vancouver (British Columbia) for analysis. The samples were analysed for 48 elements using the multi-element method, which combines a four-acid digestion with ICP-MS instrumentation. Samples were also analysed for Pt, Pd and Au using a 30 g lead fire assay with an ICP-AES finish, as well as for total sulphur by oxidation, induction furnace, and infrared spectroscopy. The Qualified Person has completed a comprehensive review of the laboratory procedures and the company's internal Quality Control samples. The findings are as follows: The results for Certified Reference Materials, along with the certified blank and coarse blanks, are in compliance with industry standards. Internal duplicate samples showed good repeatability. Duplicates were chosen from high-grade mineralized sections in accordance with accepted industry practice.”
Compositing Transparentpositive
Cut-off grade and internal dilution rules are clearly stated for reported intervals.
Why it applies: The release clearly states that a cut-off grade of 0.2% Ni was applied and a maximum of 2.86 meters of internal waste was included in calculations.
Evidence · text
“A cut-off grade of 0.2% Ni was applied. ... Length-weighted average applied; a maximum of 2.86 meters of internal waste included in the calculations.”
Metal Equivalent Opaquenegative
Metal equivalent grade reported without disclosing the price, recovery, or payability assumptions used. Requires an actual metal equivalent grade; a combined elemental basket such as PGE is not a metal equivalent.
Why it applies: The metal equivalent grade (NiEq) is reported with the formula and LME spot prices, but recovery assumptions are stated as 100% due to lack of metallurgical data, which is a significant assumption.
Evidence · text
“Recovery is assumed to be 100% as no metallurgical data is available.”

Reasoning: The main intercept in NBI-24-001 shows a strong nickel grade over a substantial width, significantly outperforming previous drilling and indicating a high-quality mineralized zone.
Positive factors
- Nickel grade (1.37%) is strong for magmatic nickel sulphide deposits, exceeding the prior best grade (0.89%).
- Intercept length (51.94 m) is substantial and significantly longer than the prior best (37.6 m).
- Grade-thickness product (71.15 %*m) is more than double the prior best (33.46 %*m), indicating a highly material result.
- This intercept represents a significant improvement in both length and grade compared to historical results.

Reasoning: This broad intercept, while lower grade than the headline, confirms the strike extension of mineralization, which is a positive for resource expansion.
Positive factors
- Nickel grade (0.33%) is weak but over a substantial width (53.95 m), indicating a broad mineralized zone.
- This intercept is interpreted as a strike extension, adding to the known footprint of mineralization.

Reasoning: While narrow, this intercept is highly novel as it confirms a significant step-out and extension of mineralization at depth, opening up new exploration potential.
Positive factors
- This intercept represents a 120-metre step-out, extending mineralization significantly.
- It is the deepest reported mineralized intercept, suggesting mineralization remains open at depth.
- Nickel grade (0.26%) meets the stated cutoff, confirming the presence of mineralization in a new area.
Negative factors
- Intercept length (0.32 m) is very narrow, limiting its individual economic significance.

Reasoning: The presence of platinum and palladium adds to the overall prospectivity of this narrow, but significant step-out intercept.
Positive factors
- Platinum and palladium (0.10 g/t) contribute to the polymetallic nature of the mineralization in this step-out hole.

How Atlas produces this analysis
Minestarters Atlas uses automated extraction to summarize mining announcements, identify reported measurements, and classify supporting evidence. Sentiment reflects the extracted narrative and classification rules; it is an interpretation, not a reported measurement. Evidence quotes and context are provided where available. Missing data, low-confidence results, and review flags indicate limitations. Check the original publisher announcement before relying on an interpretation.
