Analysis by Minestarters Atlas

Minestarters Atlas analysis

Summary

West Red Lake Gold announced high-grade gold drill results from its initial 12-hole surface drilling program at the Starratt-Olsen Mine, located near its Madsen Mine in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. Highlights include 1.5 metres at 16.16 g/t Au and 1.5 metres at 10.94 g/t Au. These results confirm Madsen-style mineralization and support the company's multi-asset strategy, with significant potential identified for depth extensions.

Reasoning: The initial modern drilling at the past-producing Starratt-Olsen Mine returned high-grade gold intercepts, confirming the presence of significant mineralization and indicating strong potential for depth extensions, which supports the company's multi-asset strategy in the Red Lake district. Robust QA/QC procedures enhance confidence in the results.

Positive factors

  • High-grade gold intercepts, including bonanza grades, confirm significant mineralization.
  • Drilling successfully demonstrated Madsen-style mineralization proximal to historically mined areas.
  • Potential for depth extension of the main ore shoot is highlighted, with plans for future underground drilling.
  • Comprehensive QA/QC procedures are disclosed, including certified lab and QP sign-off.
  • Compositing rules are transparently stated.

Negative factors

  • True width is estimated rather than precisely calculated, which can lead to overestimation of thickness.

Low confidence — this extraction should be reviewed alongside the original source.

Classification and evidence

Bonanza Interceptpositive

Exceptionally high-grade zone, well above the deposit-type norm.

Why it applies: The intercept of 24.60 g/t Au over 0.85m and 16.16 g/t Au over 1.5m are well above the 15 g/t Au exceptional threshold for underground gold deposits.

Evidence · table

“24.60”

QA/QC Disclosedpositive

Release includes QA/QC disclosure — certified lab, QP sign-off, or stated methods (blanks, standards, duplicates).

Why it applies: The release details systematic logging, sampling, insertion of standards and blanks, and analysis by AGAT Laboratories, which is ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited, with technical information approved by a P.Geo.

Evidence · text

“All drill holes are systematically logged, photographed, and sampled by a trained geologist at the core processing facility located at the Madsen Mine. Minimum allowable sample length is 0.5m. Maximum allowable sample length is 1.5m. Standard reference materials and blanks are inserted at a targeted 10% insertion rate. After logging, the core is then cut lengthwise utilizing a diamond blade core saw along a line pre-selected by the geologist. To reduce sampling bias, the same side of drill core is sampled consistently utilizing the orientation line as reference. For those samples containing visible gold (“ VG ”), a trained geologist supervises the cutting/bagging of those samples, and ensures the core saw blade is ‘cleaned’ with a dressing stone following the VG sample interval. Bagged samples are then sealed with zip ties with additional security tags, and transported by freight courier to AGAT Laboratories, Thunder Bay, Ontario for assay. Samples were submitted to AGAT Laboratories for preparation and analysis. Samples were dried and crushed to 75% passing 2 millimetres ( “mm” ), with a 250-gram ( “g” ) split retained for analysis (AGAT code: 200-075). The split was then pulverized to 85% passing 75 microns using steel pulverizing bowls (AGAT code: 200-087). Gold analyses were completed by lead collection fire assay with an ICP-OES finish for gold, platinum, and palladium on a 30 g aliquot (AGAT code: 202-055). Selected drill core samples were also analyzed for multi-element geochemistry using a four-acid digestion followed by ICP-OES/ICP-MS analysis (AGAT code: 201-071), a near-total digestion method suitable for a wide range of geological materials and trace element determination. AGAT Laboratories operate under a Quality Management System accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards. The technical information presented in this news release has been reviewed and approved by Will Robinson, P.Geo., Vice President of Exploration for West Red Lake Gold and the Qualified Person for exploration at the West Red Lake Project, as defined by NI 43-101. Mr. Robinson is not independent of WRLG.”

Compositing Transparentpositive

Cut-off grade and internal dilution rules are clearly stated for reported intervals.

Why it applies: The release explicitly states the internal dilution rule for composite intervals.

Evidence · text

“Internal dilution for composite intervals does not exceed 1m for samples grading <0.1 g/t Au.”

Apparent Width Onlynegative

Interval given as downhole width with no true width or drill orientation — apparent width may overstate true thickness.

Why it applies: The document states that true thickness has not been calculated, only downhole length, although it provides an estimate that true thickness is expected to be ≥ 70% of downhole thickness.

Evidence · text

“True thickness has not been calculated for these intercepts but is expected to be ≥ 70% of downhole thickness based on intercept angles observed in the drill core.”

Step-Out Extensionpositive

Mineralization extended beyond the previously known limit.

Why it applies: The drill program targeted up- and down-plunge extensions to previously mined panels, investigating for unmined portions of mineralization and testing for new sub-parallel lenses.

Evidence · text

“Targeted areas focused on up- and down-plunge extensions to previously mined panels at Starratt - investigating for unmined portions of previously defined mineralization and testing for new sub-parallel lenses”

Exploration Drillingneutral · Story-specific tag

No canonical definition is currently available.

Why it applies: The program is described as the 'first pass of modern drilling' and an 'initial program' designed to test the upper portions of the system, indicating an exploration focus.

Evidence · text

“The results received from this first pass of modern drilling at the past-producing Starratt-Olsen Mine are highly encouraging. ... This initial program was designed to test the upper portions of the Starratt system from surface”

How Atlas produces this analysis

Minestarters Atlas uses automated extraction to summarize mining announcements, identify reported measurements, and classify supporting evidence. Sentiment reflects the extracted narrative and classification rules; it is an interpretation, not a reported measurement. Evidence quotes and context are provided where available. Missing data, low-confidence results, and review flags indicate limitations. Check the original publisher announcement before relying on an interpretation.
